The surface of some sheet metal parts does not have the ability to prevent rust and corrosion, which will cause the phenomenon of rusting of the sheet metal parts, so effective surface treatment is very necessary. As a leading experienced precision sheet metal manufacturer in China, Goldconn uses different surface treatments according to the sheet metal materials and required effects. What are the main surface treatments? Let’s introduce the surface treatment methods used in sheet metal products.
(1) Powder coating
Powder coating equipment (electrostatic spraying machine) is used to spray powder coating on the surface of the workpiece. Under the action of static electricity, the powder will be uniformly absorbed on the surface of the workpiece to form a powder coating; the powder coating flows through high-temperature baking. It cures flat and becomes the final coating with different effects (different effects of powder and paint).
(2) Liquid painting/wet painting
Use pressure or electrostatic force to attach paint or powder to the surface of the workpiece to make the workpiece have anti-corrosion and appearance decoration effects.
(3) Electroplating/plating
Through a chemical reaction, a layer of other metal is attached to the surface of the material to increase the corrosion resistance of the metal and achieve a certain beautification effect. It is a commonly used surface treatment method, such as electro galvanized, electroplated nickel, etc.
(4) Passivation
It refers to the environmental protection passivation, the metal surface is transformed into a state that is not easy to be oxidized by bai, and the method of delaying the corrosion rate of the metal can improve the anti-rust performance of the stainless steel material.
(5) Polishing
Use flexible polishing tools and abrasive particles or other polishing media to modify the surface of the workpiece.
(6) Anodizing/Anodized
The metal on the surface of the workpiece is oxidized to form a dense protective film on the surface of the workpiece to increase the corrosion resistance of the workpiece. Generally, there are two methods of chemical oxidation and anodization. It is a commonly used surface treatment method, usually with primary color anodizing and black anodizing.
(7) Chromate/conversion coating
Chromate conversion coating has the advantages of low cost, simple process and wide application, and it is one of the most mature surface treatment technologies at present.
(8) Spray paint
Using a special paint spray gun, the compressed air jet is used to form an air pressure difference with the pipe connecting the paint storage tank, so that the paint liquid is sucked up from the paint storage tank, and the compressed air flow is brought to the nozzle and blown into a fine mist. Spray evenly on the coated surface.
(9) Abrasive blasting/sandblasting
It is a process that uses compressed air as the power to form a high-speed jet beam to spray the spray material on the surface of the workpiece to be treated at a high speed so that the appearance or shape of the outer surface of the workpiece surface is changed, and a certain degree of cleanliness and different roughness is obtained.
(10) Wire drawing
Metal drawing is a manufacturing process that forms metal work stock by reducing its cross-section. This is accomplished by forcing the work through a mold of a smaller cross-sectional area than the work. This process is very similar to metal extrusion, the difference being in the application of force. The main function is to beautify the appearance.
(11) Silkscreen/laser printing
Screen printing is the use of photosensitive materials to make screen printing plates by photo-making methods. During printing, the ink is transferred to the substrate through the mesh of the graphic part by the squeeze of the squeegee, forming the same graphic as the original. The screen printing equipment is simple, easy to operate, easy to print and plate making, low cost, and strong adaptability.
Through proper surface treatment, sheet metal parts can also change many patterns. At the same time, it functions as a beautiful and protective layer.
